The Installer's View Independent Solar Advisory
When the installer is gone

The company disappeared. Your system did not.

The panels keep working. What you lost is the phone number, and probably the workmanship warranty behind it. Most of what matters is still recoverable, and it is easier now than it will be in a year.

The system runs. You think it should run better.

  • Your production compared against what you were promised

Orphan Recovery cannot start until your equipment is identified. If none of your paperwork pins it down, we can often pull the permit package from your county records instead. We will ask you for the address by email after you book, rather than through a form.

What is actually at risk

Your hardware warranties

Panels, inverters and batteries are guaranteed by the manufacturers, not the installer. Those companies are still trading. This is the part most people assume they lost.

Your workmanship warranty

The labour, the roof penetrations, the production guarantee. Those were the installer's promises. Plan as though they are gone.

Your monitoring

Usually enrolled under a company account that lapses. Recoverable, and the fix runs through the manufacturer.

Your financing

Unaffected by the installer failing. Your counterparty is the finance company, and payments continue.

The one that gets harder with time: transferring your system's records to a new servicing company. It is simplest while the old installer's records are intact and someone is still maintaining them.

How it works

  1. Book the service. You land on a page telling you exactly what to send and where to upload it.
  2. We confirm receipt in two business days and give you a realistic timeline before starting.
  3. Your written report arrives at the email you used at checkout.

Something genuinely urgent, like a home sale closing or a trustee deadline? Say so when you book and we will tell you plainly whether we can work to it.

Quick answers

Is my system going to stop working?

No. Your panels and inverter do not know the company filed. Production continues exactly as before. What changes is who you call when something needs attention.

Should I stop paying my loan or lease?

No. Your agreement is with the finance company, not the installer, and stopping damages your credit while creating a second problem. Your most recent statement names who currently services it.

Can you fix my system?

No. We do not visit properties, climb roofs, or perform service. We work out what you have, what is covered, and what to do in what order, so that when you hire someone you know what you are asking for.

Do you find me a replacement installer?

Where the practice has direct field knowledge of your market, we can point you at licensed contractors we know. Outside those markets we tell you what to look for and where to verify a licence, rather than guessing.

Do you use AI?

AI is part of how the practice produces reports: synthesis, document organization, and draft generation. Every professional judgment and factual claim is reviewed and verified by the principal before delivery. Full detail is in the Terms of Service.

What is not included?

No site visits or inspections. We are not electrical contractors and do not certify code compliance. No legal, tax or financial advice, and no role in a dispute as an expert or third party.

Terms are in the Engagement Agreement. Cancellations in the Refund Policy. Both published in full, before you pay.
